Brrrrr it’s freezing here! È caduta la prima neve e le temperature si sono drasticamente abbassate: l’inverno è arrivato e, baby, it’s cold outside. Ma niente paura: oggi ti insegnerò alcune semplici parole in inglese che puoi usare nei mesi invernali per descrivere basse temperature e meteo “gelido”.
Le parole “invernali” da sapere
Snuggle (verbo) – to move yourself in a warm and comfortable position.
E.g. The puppy snuggled his head next to the sleeping by.
Snowman (nome) – snow shaped to resemble a human figure.
E.g. The children built a snowman in the front yard.
Hibernate (verbo) – To sleep through the winter in order to reserve energy.
E.g. I just want to hibernate like a bear when it’s freezing cold outside.
Fireplace (nome) – a place for a domestic fire.
E.g. My favorite thing to do in winter is to sit by the fireplace and read a good book.

E.g. Don’t worry Linda it’s normal to get cold feet before your wedding day.
snowed under – overworked, especially busy.
E.g. Lily can’t come tonight because she is snowed under with research for her thesis.
give someone the cold shoulder – to behave in an unfriendly way to someone/ignore.
E.g. She thinks you started a rumor about her, that’s why she is giving you the cold shoulder.
dress in layers – to wear several pieces of clothing on top of another.
E.g. When the weather is cold you should dress in layers.
